The Kors Début

Bag Michael Kors, sunglasses Chanel, crop top Misguided, maxi skirt Zara, shoes Kurt Keiger, jewellery Tiffany & Co and Merci Mamam

I've been really busy of late revising for a couple of exams I had coming up, my last exam was on Friday morning so I decided to take the day off work so I could relax for the rest of the day. Thankfully the sun was shining and it was a beautiful warm day. I had a lovely afternoon spent having a pedicure and spending time with family. I managed to persuaded my Brother to snap a few pics for the blog as I'm using my new favourite bag and also a recent purchase this summery skirt which I love and will definitely be a summer wardrobe staple for me.

Are you a fan of maxi skirts?

Lucky Lady

It has recently been my Birthday and I was spoilt rotten! If you read my last What I want Wednesday post you would know that some French Sole ballet flats and a Michael Kors bag where on my wish list and I was lucky enough to receive both from my man.
The Kors is even more beautiful than I remembered it is pure perfection. The shade of green is just stunning making it a real statement bag. I tend to keep my outfit simple and neutral and let the bag do the talking and it definitely does. A pair of French sole ballet flats have been on my wish list for a long time they are the perfect ballet flats and a necessity for Parisian chic. I love a good heel as much as the next girl but I do tend to wear flats more as a day look and the quality of French sole is second to none just ask Olivia Palermo! I'm already beginning to live in these beauties and can see my French Sole collection growing fast. I was also surprised with these pretty Dahlia top I adore pretty much anything floral and this top ticks all the boxes for me.

What do you think of my Birthday gifts?

L'Wren Scott

It is following tragic circumstances that I write this post, this is dedicated to the life and work of talented fashion designer L'Wren Scott who recently took her own life.
L'Wren Scott began her career in fashion as a model and quickly became a successful stylist and costume designer for film, she then made the brave transition to fashion designer launching her first collection The little black dress in 2006.
Her designs were highly sought after and she had many celebrity fans including Nicole Kidman Sarah Jessica-Parker and Amy Adams. She carved out a niche known for a her sexy and strong feminine pieces, each show delivering exceptional creations cementing her reputable status in the Fashion industry.
"L'Wren Scott had a very clear notion of style which informed everything she did. It's not easy making the transition from stylist to designer, but every year L'Wren's recognition as a designer and creator of a brand was increasing" said Vogue editor Alexander Shulman.
Below are some of L'Wren's beautiful designs.

L'Wren Scott will be greatly missed by many may she rest in peace.

The Oscars 2014-The Gowns

Kate Hudson was my favourite look of the evening both dresses are just stunning and scream Hollywood movie star. Kate looked strikingly beautiful on both the red carpet in Atelier Versace and the Vanity Fair after party in Zuhair Murad Couture. For me she couldn't of got it more right the red carpet gown was breathtakingly gorgeous.

The very beautiful Olivia Wilde dressed her bump perfectly in a floor length Valentino gown.I adore this
understated look with the unexpected slice of monochrome at the back styled with gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz earrings.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie and Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves are my favourite couples of the evening. Both different looks but equally red carpet worthy. Brad looked dapper in a classic black tuxedo while Angelina stunned in Elle Saab Couture
I love how this gown contrasts to her recent tux ensemble.
Matthew looked just as dapper in a black and white tuxedo while Camilla complemented his outfit in a fitted Gabriela Cadena gown with soft drapping from the shoulder, she looked beautiful in this seasons soft pastel colour.

Cate Blanchett wore a fairy tale-esque Armani Prive embellished gown. She looked truly beautiful I love everything about the gown from the colour to the exquisite detailing.
Charlize Theron looked amazing every inch the movie star from head to toe. The actress wowed in Dior Couture accessorizing to perfection with $15 Million worth of Harry Winston diamonds and her hair styled in an up-do. The gown is gorgeous I love the cut and the sheerness towards the bottom.

Evan Rachel Wood wore an amazing Elle Saab Couture gown to the Vanity Fair after-party. What can I say other than wow?! This is emerald at its finest, and the cut is perfect the fabric falls so elegantly brining attention to the fabulous detailing.
Lupita Nyong'o ensured all eyes were on her on the red carpet. She looked extremely striking in a pale blue plunging Prada gown. Another stunning gown from the Oscars 14 and it really did look like it was made for Lupita, the colour complimented her skin tone and the fit was perfect for her model like figure.

With so many stunning gowns from this years Oscars it was very difficult to pick a favourite and whittle it down to just a few to blog about.
What was your favourite look of the evening?

Beauty Favourites

The lovely people over at Skinetica sent me a bottle to try, and i was very impressed with the results. Weather you are prone to break outs or just get the odd spot here and there, this is very handy to have it is now my go to product if a pesky blemish pops up. I hate harsh spot treatments with lots of chemicals so Skinetica is a great alternative.

These little shine absorbing sheets are now my absolute handbag essential. I have combination skin and tend to get oily in my T-zone through out the day which i hate. You use one sheet to blot away any excess oil which leaves you shine free and you make-up still on. love them!
I have gone through many hand creams over the years but i adore this one. I have tried high end brands but my favourite comes down to high street favourite Nivea. It makes my hands feel lovely and soft and i just cannot get enough of the smell! it reminds me of holiday and who wouldn't want to be reminded of sunny climates.
Another handbag essential for me I guarantee you soft lips with this lip balm. Burts Bee's lip balms are natural  and leave your lips feeling soft and nourished.
I use Mac studio finish concealer daily and i think it is amazing. It does exactly what you want from concealer covers up blemishes and dark circles and stays put all day long. It has a creamy like texture and you need a tiny amount which i dab on with my finger. I great tip I was told is to put your concealer over your foundation, if you put it on before you will wipe it off when you apply your foundation.

Vogue Festival - Michael Kors

I went to the Vogue Festival last Saturday accompanied by my beautiful Mum. We attended the Michael Kors and Yasmin Le Bon American Dream talk. You were allowed to browse round the festival stands for an hour before the talk, which unfortunately wasn't enough time. I was excited for the Vogue braid bar so went straight to the queue and decided on a boho braid (pictured above) while my Mum got a cute wrap around braid. If only i knew how to style my hair like that myself! I was pleased to experience the Vogue braid bar, however it was then time to see the talk and we didn't get a chance to see any other stands which was quite disappointing.

The hugely talented Michael Kors was joined by model Yasmin Le Bon for an interesting discussion on his rise to success. Kors is charming outgoing and funny, he had the audience laughing including myself as him and Yasmin reminisced over catwalk mishaps and wardrobe malfunctions.
The American designer recalled his earliest fashion memory aged 5 when his Mother was trying on her wedding dress and he exclaimed "what are all those bows" she decided he might be onto something and got them removed resulting in a beautiful transformation of the dress. Confirming his eye for fashion at such a young age.

Kors dropped out of college and first began selling his clothes in Bergdorf Goodman after the buyers loved his designs. This was where it all began his 1st catwalk show was in the fall of 84, he then went onto work at French fashion house Celine going from designer to creative director. After turning the brand around he left in 2003 to concentrate on his growing fashion empire.

Best known for his sports-luxe aesthetic he seems to understand women's bodies well. He has "never thought of models as mannequins" and swears by the motto the women should wear the dress not the dress wear the women. It is all about being confident in your own skin and what you are wearing.
He has no regrets "you have to make mistakes, try things to get to the next step. Fashion is living breathing and moving", curiosity is key as the designer gets inspiration from everywhere "sometimes even something bad can influence you". Such as seeing people wearing sweatsuits on planes made him think "surely there is a more stylish way to be comfy!" which the audience found hilarious.

Michael continued to openly chat away, it was a wonderfully inspiring insight into the man behind the Fashion house, he also gave some great advice if fashion is where your heart is get a job in retail. It is where it all begins therefore it is great to start from the beginning as you get a greater understanding.
